SACRAMENTS IN THE OLR CATHOLIC CHURCH

A Sacrament is a sacred sign given by Christ in which Christians can experience the healing, forgiving, nourishing, and strengthening the presence of God that enables them to love in turn. This is possible because God's grace works in the sacraments. The Church recognizes seven sacraments, each with its own unique significance and purpose. Let us explore these sacraments together:

The Church has seven (7) sacraments:

1. Baptism,

2. Confirmation,

3. Eucharist,

4. Penance,

5. Anointing of the Sick,

6. Holy Orders and

7. Matrimony

MORE ABOUT THE SACRAMENTS AT OLR

The sacraments can be categorized into three groups:

  • Sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, which lay the foundation of our Christian life.
  • Sacraments of healing: Penance and Anointing of the Sick, which bring spiritual healing and restoration.
  • Sacraments at the service of communion: Holy Orders and Matrimony, which are dedicated to the service and salvation of others.

The sacraments are not mere rituals but sacred encounters with God, where we are transformed and empowered to live as authentic disciples of Christ. May we approach these sacraments with reverence, openness, and a deep desire to draw closer to God's abundant grace.
